The daughter had a fairly serious car accident a couple of years ago. She got back behind the wheel as soon as she reasonably could do so, but remains rather nervous, particularly on dual carriageways / motorways where she is in mortal dread of somebody lurching out in front of her (the cause of her original accident).

What would be the best route for some refresher and advanced driving lessons? Bear in mind she had been driving happily for nearly 20 years beforehand. I''m not sure if IAM is the right solution.

Most driving school instructors only seem to be geared up to get people through the driving test but thee are a few who offer advanced style courses. Make some enquiries and you may find an ex police trained instructor who will be able to offer more than a basic driving school instructor. The IAM is not for everyone but you could do worse than try them.

Do what i did with youngrovergirl, take her out for some driving ie somewhere nice for luch or shopping on a quietish set of roads and help her build up her confidence by correct placement on road, distances etc, and it'll work wonders. Afew lessons with an experienced driving instructor won't go amiss either.
