Got a renewal through the post saying that my renewal payment was due and automatic. I did not authorize automatic payment unless it was tucked away in small print.

I called their 0800 number to get that stopped and found that if you press for that request you are told the lines are busy and call back later ...click!

But if you press to simply change your cover you get through straight away. I told the lady to stop the automatic payment, which she says she has done. But if I wanted to cancel I would have to go to another department. Although the renewal payment has been stopped my cover will go into lapse unless I cancel. Huh! What does that mean I'm still covered but I haven't paid?

Anyway that's the last time I use AA insurance and breakdown, I think they have a damn cheek

I just hope they do stop the payment because I'm going to go elsewhere and wouldn't want to find I'm still insured plus breakdown with the AA as well. Or assuming they have stopped the automatic payment they send me a late payment bill.

Who wants to do business with this tricky company, I certainly don't.

AA are awful for renewals.

When I signed up - I paid an extra £3 to avoid it being renewed automatically (i knew I would forget about it and not shop around when it was due).

1 week before it was due up, I recieved a letter informing it would be renewed automatically as per the agreement!
You can imagine my rage.

1. Automatic renewal despite being promised it wouldnt.
2. Renewal price double the joining price despite not using the service
3. Letters through the door every 2/3 weeks trying to sell me all their other insurance rubbish

Any they wonder why I left.

What was the outcome, did they cancel in the end?

You get them even if you last had AA insurance a couple of decades ago or ever gone through a comparison site.

I had the exact same thing, with the Breakdown cover, renewal notice at more than double the price for new customers.

So I cancelled the Direct Debit with my Bank and said goodbye to them.

They pestered me to death trying to sell me house insurance, I did buy it, but them found the cover was nowhere near as good as what I had with Aviva before, so I'll NOT be renewing this time thank you . . .

Okay I've got it cancelled. I found that the best way to get through is not to press for cancellations but press for something else. Once you got an advisor they will put you through to the right department.

To bypass all the sales pressure just tell you're getting rid of the car. That's a dead end for them and they will simply cancell your renewal. Job done.

What a cheek though wanting to charge me almost triple for breakdown and another £50 for insurance. They do try it on. Never again.

I think the AA is run just by accountants now and all they want to see is figures !

Bit short sighted really as you can only annoy approx 60 million in the UK and then you end up with non

I must admit i did find them very hard work this year and very unhelpfull ! almost to the point of rude !
