Honda Accord 96 - Refit Repaired ABS Modulator - new problems - HondaSchmonda

I would really appreciate any advice here as I am tearing my hair out. The VSA warning light has been on for years and I didn't bother with it as it didn't affect the MOT. It now does. Honda said 2k, so I got the part taken out (ABS modulator) and sent it to ECU testing who repaired it.

My mechanic then put it back in but the light is still on so he checked the fault codes and there are four new ones coming up along with the two old one. ECU Testing advised him to clean sensors and reset but no luck.

Does anyone have any experience with this? My car has been off the road now for two weeks. TIA.

Is this really a 1996 car?Could it be 2006?The ecu testing company have obviously not fixed it .Cleaning the sensors is absolute rubbish.I suggest you find somebody that can fix it correctly.

They are two different companies. it is entirely possible the modulator is beyond repair - happened to mine.

OP - i have pretty decent experience of abs faults in an accord.

what year and model is it? what fault codes are coming up?

if you"re still getting code 66-1 up, the modulator isnt working. you may have a faulty wheel sensor(s) as well.

Thanks all. It is of course 2006, sorry about that. It's a ex I-ctdi 2204 manual diesel. The modulator was returned on Friday to ECU testing and they have just phoned to say they have retested it and there is nothing wrong. They have suggested my mechanic is putting it in wrong. I don't think so as he's a Honda specialist (independent) and he's refitted new modulators before. Would an authorised Honda service look at it do you think or will they say No you shouldn't have taken it out? So annoying have been off the road for two weeks and MOT has just expired.

Please be gentle with me in case you haven't noticed I don't know anything about cars! I really appreciate your help.

if your mechanic is a specialist, he should know that fault code 66-1 means the modulator is faulty. if theres another code present, theres another fault elsewhere. you shouldnt need an authorised honda guy either, i didnt, they just replace the unit, bleed the system and ut should work.

can i suggest you join the typeaccord forum, more advice there and i only happened upon your post again really, theres no means of getting an alert for replies but i'll try and check back
