Not had any experience with Fords but they are a pain on my Citroens, its not so much what you have to take off but how easy it is to get at, you also have the hydraulic pipes to disconnect. The Citroen gives you very little room to actually extract the rack from the car which makes things difficult.

Unless the pump has been run dry for any length of time it should be OK.
