My focus which has done 72k has started cutting out without warning during normal driving every 2-3 weeks. This is potentially extremely dangerous as I could easily be shunted/hit by following vehicle . All warning lights come on but the car will restart immediately and drive Normally fora couple of weeks before it happens again. The locaL ford garage has found nothing so far and has reprogrammed the Ecu but the fault has happened again. Any ideas would be welcome as I can't trust the car at present. Thanks

Crank or cam sensor- Internal wires failing .. one day just fail totally.

How to test? change the easiest and cheapest...

Before getting involved with expensive repairs,I would change the diesel fuel filter.hth

If believe this car as the same engine as the Mazda 3 .16 Turbo Diesel.

I would as suggested get the Fuel Filter changed

Then Clean the MAF, it might be covered in oil, then get the fuel pressure sensor checked. This is fitted to the end of the common rail.
