Vauxhall Astra 2004 - Claiming out of pocket expenses. - Bizzi Munkey

Does anyone know how to claim for "out of pocket" expenses? Other driver At Fault as hit me in back whilst stationery in traffic. My car will be repaired but as it is a Cat C write off ( Im doing a deal with the insurer to get it repaired) I do not have a courtesy car any longer. Can I claim from the other insrer for a hire car whilst mine is repaired? I will have about £100 of other expenses incurred due to the other driver. About £200 in total

You have a duty to mitigate any loss & since your insurers wrote the car off, any further expenses are at your cost. (which is why the courtesy car was withdrawn)

You can of course claim, whether the other party would offer to pay is another matter

I suggest you consult your insurer, but in all likelihood you would have to pursue your claim for extra expenses through the small claims courts. Any motor legal insurance may help.

If you've received payment for your car being written off, you are normally able to claim for a hire car for seven days from the date if you receiving the check.

If you decide to repair a written off car it's not the other Insurers problem beyond the seven days
