Volkswagen Golf - Mk2 Golf idle problem - armands86

Hello. I got Golf Mk2 1.6 PN with Pierburg 2EE. Recently it started to rev in idle. Revs fluctuates 800 to 1.800 rpm. And also the vacuum powered idle valve actuator isnt moving back in so the buterfly valve stays open. I didnt find any vacuum leak. Also oil pressure gauge is leaking but I dont think its related. Tested coolant temp sensor. Looks fine. I dont have any ideas. Please help!

Volkswagen Golf - Mk2 Golf idle problem - Big John

Replace "ALL" the vacuum pipes they are rubber internally and rot in time. Not always obvious due to the braid outer. Most of the VAG cars around this time with carbs were notorious for this.
