Does anyine know how to adjust the headlights for driving at night on the continent? Or is it a question of attaching some beam benders?

Don't worry about it - I used the useless beam benders when I first came over here to live.

As long as you are not dazzling oncoming traffic no one will worry about it - just use your headlamp cockpit adjustment and lower them a couple of points.
