Fuel filter replacement interval depends purely on the total quantity of fuel passing through it and how dirty it is - for a given design of filter. So, service information is not of the slightest use.
The 1.9 PD has an excellent design of filter (I used to test them) and proper replacements from Bosch or Mann & Hummel will give excellent service when correctly installed.
UK high street fuel is now very good indeed in terms of dirt and water. Based on my testing - a while ago - if you use fuel from large outlets in the UK, a change interval of 30k miles gives a large margin of safety, and is the interval I keep to for my AWX PD.
The fuel filter is a crucial component in any diesel system - neglect or mis-application will have expensive consequences.
