There are a number of possible causes. Either not enough fuel getting to the high pressure pump - blocked fuel filter, in-tank pump failing. Or fuel rail pressure being lost - faulty rail pressure sensor, leaking injector, faulty rail pressure regulator. Start simple & change the fuel filter.

I know this post is old but I bought a 2005 diesel Tucson and it kept cutting out when warm and I would have to wait for 15 mins to restart it only to get 15 mins up road and same thing. Mechanics told me it was probably fuel pump, fuel filter etc but after doing a lot of research online, I managed to diagnose the fault and it was a crankshaft sensor! Had it changed and runs like a new car! :) So glad I didnt waste money getting all those other things done!

Can anyone please help! I bought a 2005 Tucson in March 2019 and a week later had this same issue - wouldnt start when hot and kept cutting out when not accelerating. I broked down 7 times on the M4 from London to Wales and was supposed to do a course in Exmoor the next day and couldnt get there - gutted! Had to get relayed all the way back to London! Anyways, I found this thread and had a new crank shaft sensor fitted and hey presto ran like new! I also replaced the cam shaft sensor a couple of weeks later as that was the advice I was give. Now some 2-3 later my car isnt starting when hot again. I cannot believe my luck as they moved my course in Exmoor to this weekend and now 2 days before the car isnt starting - even when it's been sitting in the sun! The worst thing of all is that I am moving to Spain in 3 weeks and bought this car specifically to take with me due to the spec! I am at a loss what to do - does anyone please have any first hand experience of this?

Thanks.

Sorry to be brutal, but your best bet is probably:

Hire a car to get you to Exmoor, assuming that you've checked that train and taxi won't be practcable.

Flog the Hyundai and buy a LHD car in Spain.

Hi, Know this is old post but looking with help with something similar.

Looking for some advice/help in regards to a 2.0crdi Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle belongs to my brother and it has been off the road for the past six months after it cutting out on him on the motorway and having to be recovered. The vehicle was then in garage for three weeks after which time garage returned it to him saying they had no idea what is wrong with it.
Quick update on what has been done so far - all fuses and relays have been checked and tested, all sensors been tested, ECU been tested, fuel pump in tank been replaced all long with fuel filter.
Car cranks but refuses to start, but will run on easy start.
He told me a couple of months ago that he had checked the fuel pressure and all was well, however I am lead to believe that this is not the case and when he had the fuel rail pressure sensor off the other day he cranked it over and said there was no fuel coming out.
When he disconnects the line from the fuel tank pump and then turns ignition on it will pump fuel out for a few seconds then stops. I know that this happens if you do not start car as fuel pressure builds up at low pressure end and switches pump off but should it switch off if hose is disconnected and it is pumping into a container as it is building no pressure to switch itself off.
Slowly running out of things to check, all electrical systems seem to check out fine and I would say appear to be fine since it runs on easy start. I have yet to have my hands on it as I stay a couple of hours away and was trying not to get involved.
Could this be a problem with the fuel rail solenoid or could it be something more serious like high pressure fuel pump.
Any pointing in any direction gladly accepted as he is always on phone asking me to check things out for him.

Has anyone read the codes?

hyundai tucson crdti - cutting out - BigStu98

Codes have been read,

Was one regarding fuel pressure but it has never re-appeared, only other codes that come up are after he has had something unplugged but once cleared they don't come back
