Hyundai Tucson 2004 (Petrol/Manual) - Reversing lights remaining on... - TriciaA

Someone pointed out to me yesterday that my reversing lights were on, even though I was parked, with just the engine running. He said that the switch could be stuck. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me where this switch is, is it easy to get at? Obviously I'd like to fix this myself :D

Many thanks :)

Assuming it's a manual gearbox, it should be the only thing on the side of the box with a wire going to it. Not sure exactly where on a tucson box, but should be an easy spot.

Do you mean on the side of the gear box? Thanks for the reply btw

Most likely the side but could be on the top. Just look for anything with a wire going to it, is there more than one?

Thank you :) I have unplugged it and shall be ordering a new one. I take it, it will be easy to fit, is anything I need to be aware about?

Many thanks

Anyone know how easy it is to refit new switch please?

This may be a red herring, but on the 2.0 diesel, the switch is a single unit screwed into the gearbox case. About 30mm A/F spanner (can't quite remember the size exactly, but of that order) and the whole unit comes out. There were no springs, clips or other surprises! Just make sure the surrounding area is free from debris which could fall into the gearbox.
