Citroen C5 1.8 Petrol 2006 - Citroen C5 1.8 Petrol 2006 - where is the coolant - Alf_Hooker

My wonderful lady friend has a beautiful Citroen with the correct suspension, which she dearly loves.

Occasionally - once every 10-12 months, it suddenly loses about a litre or so of its coolant, the first time a dodgy clip was replaced on the expansion tank, the last time it was unexplained, then a faulty sensor was replaced, it but has been perfect for a year, but now its just happened again.

It has just come back from a major service and been pronounced as in perfect order.

Do they drain the coolant at the major service ? if so is it likely they have not replaced the jubilee clip or someting like that.

Luckily she noticed the temperature guage having crept up and stopped to check, in the middle of a major journey from Kings Lynn to Sheffield.

Need to get to the bottom of this mystery.

If it is loosing sufficient coolant to make it overheat I would suspect that the head gasket is leaking, it will probably only loose appreciable ammounts when being pushed hard. The coolant will be expelled via the header tank filler cap or overflow, look for tell tale signs of dry antifreeze round the tank.
