iveco daily - Rough running engine - mikeandvan

just bought an iveco daily 35s14, just serviced it, but engine runs a bit rough. Most evident when idling, vibration in steering wheel/dash, quite annoying. No other probs,no engine lights on, no loss of power (though I'm new to van but it seems very powerful). Also steering wheel vibrates over around 60 - 70 mph ( this could be separate issue).

To be clear no other issues at all, and seeing as its just been serviced, I take it engine mounts will have been checked (it was a reputable garage). Any ideas please? could it be cracked engine block?

Is the engine visibly rocking on its mountings? if so its probably down a little on one cylinder, if its running smoothly it must be a mounting/exhaust system problem.

The vibration on the steering will undoubtably be a wheel balance or tyre problem.

I can't see whether its rocking on its mountings or not, but when I open bonnet engine is rocking, by down a little on one cylinder do you mean it could be a crack or something hideous? Garage said vibration at higher speeds might be due to propshaft. Thanks.

Its an Iveco Daily - its never going to be the smoothest thing out there.

Could be down on power on one cylinder, may be a faulty injector - I take it this a diesel. Do you know what engine it uses?

yes a disel, turbo engine, but no engine warning lights on.

i know,I've had one already, but this seems more than normal 'iveco' running.

Iveco is cynically alleged to be an acronym - It Vibrates, Everything Comes Off

took it to garage again today, they just came out front, turned engine on, opened bonnet and had a look. Said mounts were fine, they reckon its normal engine running for an iveco, they say their iveco trucks are even worse........ So guess I'll just leave it at that, and see how long I can tolerate this hunk of misery. They may be realiable,but.....

Who ever said that Iveco Dailys were reliable???

Why is it a 'hunk of misery'???

lots of people, mechanics, vehicle breakdown companies, supermarkets, etc....

Hunk of misery? rock hard suspension! I dread every little bump, and like I said the vbibration, which apparantely is normal, though it wasn't present on my last daily, which had a smaller engine, 35s11.
