Fiesta - how easy to fit CD/radio - smokie
My daughter is hoping to inherit my wife's Fiesta Azura (1994)when she passes her test soon. Of course, she wants a CD/radio rather than the "pants" tape radio that is currently fitted.

Makro have a Goodmans radio/CP/MP3 CD for a good price in this week's Makro Mail offers.

How easy would it be to fit it myself? Would I need any additional wires/harnesses/whatever?

And the speakers... How/where do I run the wires to hide them?

Quick answer would be much appreciated as the offer starts tomorrow...!!!

Oh, and does anyone know what it might cost to get it done? Argos have the same radio for about £70 more but with free fitting (radio only). Had a quick search on the net but couldn't find much.

Thanks

Easy job, did it myself with my old Fiesta of (nearly) the same age.

You need no special harnesses, however, if the wiring is original, I would recommend getting an adaptor wire to convert the original wiring plugs to fit the Goodmans directly. Saves faffing around trying to match up wires and only cost a tenner.

I found that the speaker wires (for the rear speakers you intend to fit I presume?) ran out the back of the radio, underneath the glove box, and could then be pushed under the plastic trim that goes around the bottom of the door frame, and into the back, and from there into the boot via the edge of the rear seat... Easy, and where the wires hung doen from the glovebox, I found a good strip of electrical tape held them in. :)

It made a huge difference to my old Fiesta, I put Pioneer 6X9 speakers in the parcel shelf, and then faded slighty more of the power into them than the front ones. It sounded great.

Oh, don;t try fitting the CD player to securely, if she ever forgets to take the front off, and someone tries to nick it, the last thing you want is to have it securely fitted or else they will rip your dash to pieces. Mine was wuite loose and so they were ab le to remove the Kenwood head unit without damaging the dash too much. If I had securely fitted it, then I would have received no benefit, but they would have done enormous damage removing it in a hurry... :(
