Hi,

Hope everyone is well?

New here and tried searching for an answer but couldn’t find one.

My 2011 Qashqai (automatic) makes a crackling noise when pulling away after sitting overnight or for a long period. Once I’m a few minutes down the road the noise disappears and won’t return until the next time I drive the car after a while. I’ve uploaded a video to my Google drive and it’s about 8-9 seconds in that it starts. The first noise is just the wing mirrors opening.

Is this something I need to urgently be concerned about as I’m driving to South France in 3 weeks time!

Very difficult to analyse a noise on a video. I would take it to a garage for an assessment. Just hope it’s not the gearbox.

As this will be a CVT if it has never been done it will do it no harm to get a full gearbox flush and service carried out (which means more than just an oil drain. It is cover off, all filters and strainers replaced) and hope its not too late.
