It was almost a pleasure to see an unmarked police car stop a speeding e bike fast food delivery biker who went through a red light and deal with him.

Saw it going past one way and returning 20 mins later getting another rider to deliver his order while police confiscated his ride.

Police here catching a few !

That’s good to hear ORB.

The speed they travel at is concerning.

But around here we have to watch out for mobility scooters , some fully enclosed travelling on the road when the pavements are unsuitable.

Not sure how motorists would be covered if they hit one of these on the road when?

If a motorist hit a mobility scooter, rather than vice-versa, then a likely charge of careless driving would follow.

Excluding motorways and "special" roads, all other roads are "all-purpose" and available to all vehicles, persons and animals.

My mother, who is 91, is concerned that sooner or later she will not be able to drive and where she lives requires a car, and as such is considering moving. However a neighbour told her not to worry as should that happen she could get a mobility scooter as you don't need a driving licence for them. It never crossed her mind (or her neighbour's) that if she is considered not fit to drive a car why would she be fit to drive one on these on the roads/pavements

I organised a mobility scooter for my MIL. She was no longer safe to drive a car, but this gave her the independence to travel to the local shops, library, pub etc and visit us. She had a 'pavement' model, restricted to 4MPH. I considered it safer for both her and the public than a bicycle!

Can they pop round my way?

There's a local pizza delivery chappie who 'rides' one of these like he's still living in Mumbai, going down streets on the wrong side of the road, on the pavement at speed, at night without lights (a common feature these days with a LOT of cyclists of all kinds, e-scooters and even cars) and not stopping at traffic lights, junctions, etc.

Absolute menace. It wouldn't be so bad if the food was ok and delivered on time, given he frequently gets lost and often asks for directions!

While they're at it, can they nick the local 'yoofs' who like using the local roads as a drag strip / race track in the evening, sometimes so loud that you can't hear your TV without annoying the neighbours.

There's a facebook page called "i**** UK Drivers Exposed" and a food delivery rider caught every day.

Never use them, Can cook myself and usually have some easy things in the freezer, plus Youngrovergirl is a fabulous cook and an excellent cakemaker too.

We had a bit of that in some of the carparks locally, Asda, but also one of the coucil multistorey.

I think the employers (Just Eat etc) should be responsible in ensuring all their staff and their mode of transport comply with the relevant regulations.
Even casual pizza delivery drivers rarely disclose their nightly activities to their insurance companies

I think you'll find they're all self-employed, so the delivery companies have no responsibility. I also understand the delivery riders can give the job to someone else, further separating responsibility.

Self employed my a***!

Can you imagine these guys submitting a tax return every January?

They can't choose their hours and they're targeted on how many deliveries they make on a round, also being heavily reliant on tips.

They're employees, pure and simple and the companies concerned should be ensuring each of them have insurance to deliver the food, whether it's a car, moped or e-scooter.
