Citroen c3 1.6 HDI.. - Dpf clean - strickjumpers

Hello,

Anti pollution warning on dash, EML and restricted to about 2.5k revs.

Looking to pull dpf and do out of car cleaning.

Anybody suggest good product for this or alternative method or any other ideas?

I've blanked the EGR with no difference, aim to remove blank.

Any advice most welcome.

Happy New Year all.

Mike

Cleaning does not work, its just a myth unless you have very expensive kit which is the preserve of commercials. The soot is bonded to the matrix which is burned by a regen at 600 degrees C and turns to ash. Pretty much no way to get the ash out so its replacement time.

But on a Citroen HDi and other members of the family EOLYS is injected into the diesel which raises the temp of the DPF and ensures much better regens than other brands. Problems occur when the EOLYS runs out.

Have you had a specialist check the car or are you clutching at straws for a cheap fix?

Yes quick cheap fix was my intention.

I foolishly sold the car cheap to a friend and as expected came back to haunt me..should've grabbed another £200 and seen the back of it.now feel obligated to fix.

Given the cost of the fluid for the supposed clean being not much cheaper than second hand dpf might be worth a punt..

Well aware might come off sc***per with same issue.

How doy you exercise warranty if unsure if it's 2nd hand dpf or other problem should it not resolve the issue?

Cheers. Mike

No such thing as a cheap fix on a modern car . That went out when the Cortina stopped production.

What's the chances of it being the cat and not dpf.

For the purposes of ordering.

I can buy dpf separate or obviously combined unit.

Don't see cat for sale separate.

Thanks.

You can get cheap aftermarket DPFs or cats from CATS2U.

I recommend them to owners then use DIAGBOX to reset the counters. Never had anyone come back to me with an issue afterwards.

Cleaners won't work on years of buildup - just like running a badly tannin stained tea mug under a hot tap won't clean it.

Same with the "Italian tune up" - that's the equivalent of doing 10 minutes of jogging after a lifetime on the greasy fatty foods!

Get to an auto tech who has the diagnostic kit to work out exactly what the fault is.

If it's EOLYS fluid related the fix is straightforward - but may not be cheap.

Anti pollution on these is just Engine Management light. Every chance it's nothing to do with the DPF. Even a cheap OBD scanner should be able to pull the code and give you a pointer - but when was the fuel filter last changed?
