2020Skoda Kodiaq SE drive, 1.5 TSI ACT - Skoda Kodiaq unidentifiable noise - Yorkshire Tea

In August this year I part exchanged my Subaru XV for a 2020 Skoda Kodiaq SE drive, 1.5 TSI ACT, petrol, 7 seater, manual, one owner, 24,00 miles on the clock. Very reputable garage/car dealer, full service, 12mth warranty etc.

I have since driven 2,000 miles without any problems at all. However, in the last few weeks the vehicle has developed a strange noise near the front nearside wheel, which is consistent during driving and when the vehicle is stationary with the engine running.

No faults were indicated on the car diagnostics. The garage was extremely helpful, put the car on a ramp and thought is was a noise coming from the gearbox or clutch. They removed the gearbox, fitted a new clutch and test drove the car. The noise is still occurring.

They then drove the car to another reputable VW/Audi dealer who checked everything and still could not find a serious fault.

Skoda do say there are various "noises" to be expected in a Kodiaq and the car is safe to drive. It actually runs superbly!

My concern is that if this was one of these "noises" why has it only happened in the last 100 miles of 2k miles.

Any ideas gratefully received.

You mention it’s had a new clutch , but has this car got a dual mass flywheel?

Are DMF's ever fitted to non diesel engined cars?

Most definitely, it’s not just diesel engine cars that have them .

There aren't any problems changing gear, or clunking noises, so looking at various YouTube videos showing problems and noises with a faulty DMF, happy to be corrected but it doesn't seem to be that problem.

More of a constant rattle with whatever is rotating when the engine is running whilst driving or when stationery coming from nearside front.

Does the constant rattle disappear when you are stationery and the clutch is depressed?

I had a similar problem on a SEAT ATECA 1.5 act ,there is a TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN relating to this problem.Iwas told it was something to do with a bolt in the gearbox, it took four hours to fix.

Driving the car this afternoon, the noise stops when the clutch pedal is depressed and starts again when clutch released.

Someone on Briskoda.net has had same problem and says Skoda is telling them it's the clutch trust bearing and "within the noise limits" and safe to drive!

The clutch has been replaced in my car and the noise is still there. So I have no idea what to do next. Fortunately the warranty doesn't expire until August 2025 and I have breakdown cover, but this is a very unsatisfactory conclusion.

Did they replace the thrust bearing or just the clutch? It would have made sense to do so, ask them about this and see what they say.
