Vauxhall Mokka 2015 CDTI - Acrid Smell From Exhaust - Ricardo Antonio

Hi,

We have owned our Vauxhall Mokka from new. It has a full service history and 125,000 miles on the clock. A few months ago I noticed an acrid smell from the exhaust. It is noticeable as soon as the engine is turned on. It passed it's MOT in August with no advisories. I have tried a fuel cleaner and a cat cleaner but these have made no difference. The engine is running fine and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. Does anyone know what the cause could be ? About a year ago there was a leak from the turbo hose which was replaced. Could this be a factor ?

Does it smell like burning oil?

Check your oil levels and see if it's dropping at all.

Definitely check your levels , especially the engine coolant .

Yeh, I've heard a leaky heater ,atrix described as a ""curried" or "spicy" smell (presumab;y by someone who didn't like curries very much).so coolant might well be describable as "acrid" once it had been through an engine.

Don't really see how any leak from the heater matrix could get 'through an engine', or anywhere other than the front footwells ?

Nor do i, but if you are going to post a comprehensive list of things that dont happen, we are going to need a bigger internyet
