Ldv maxus van - Battery Removal - Margaret Marchelak

Good evening. My elderly husband is no longer able to lift and remove his lucas battery from his van. I am trying to find if there is some sort of winch of a table top size rather than a floor standing one that could be adapted to help him to lift it in and out of the engine bay onto a table below. We dontbhavevthevroom for storing the types of tools have been seeing on amazon etc so am wondering if anyone one has any ideas please

Don’t think what you’re looking for actually exists. A battery on this probably weighs over 20 kilograms. You’ll need something substantial to lift that . Ask a friend or neighbour to assist you.

If working in a covered area, you could maybe fix a winch to the ceiling. A Hilka winch capable of lifting 250 kg is around £100.

How often and why do they want to remove the battery?

You might want to look into a portable, tabletop mini winch or electric hoist that can be mounted on a table or a sturdy frame. These are much smaller and could help with lifting the battery in and out of the engine bay without taking up too much space.
