Is that right £184 for 12 months extended warranty?

Rip their arm off Orb, that's a bargain....we assume labour charges are part of the deal and not just the parts that are covered?

But is there the inference that there will no longer be a parts supply other than service items?

WBAC have offered me more than any dealer ?

Cut and Run?

I thought Ssangyongs had a 7 year manufacturer's warranty as standard. A 71 reg car is only coming up to 3 years old.

Is this some sort of top-up cover or have they withdrawn the 7 year warranty for some reason?

5 years or 100k miles on ice vehicles. Not sure what the op is being sold here ?

The warranty was reduced from 7 to 5 years in 2023 by the look of it, so this one, being older, should have the full 7 years.

This site also seems to suggest that it should have a 7 year warranty (newer ones have 5). www.auto-retail.co.uk/agenda/ssangyong-slashes-2-y.../

ORB, I'd be contacting your dealer to ask what has happened to the remainder of your manufacturer's warranty.

The article is dated April 2023:

"It is understood retailers were told the move was attributed to the cost of repairing vehicles towards the end of their warranty. However, no vehicles sold with seven years of cover have yet reached that age, because the policy was introduced in October 2018, prior to which the manufacturer had a five-year scheme."

Perhaps that indicates that warranty claims are increasing as cars reach the 5 year mark and they could see where it was going in years 6 & 7. They'd also be aware of what was failing in those years and decided it was better if the customer paid.

I don’t think Ssangyong as was exist any more, I’m fairly sure they went bust and after a takeover now operate with a new name.

SSangYong was rebranded as KGM at the start of the year. The reason we are speaking about SSangYong is that is what ORB's car is branded (as it's a 71 plate).

There is an article on the news section of this site about the rebranding which states "a spokesperson confirmed to Honest John that warranties for existing SsangYong customers remain fully valid.".

Full article: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/new-car-market/2024-01/s.../

I take that to mean as ORB's SSangYong was bought with a 7 year warranty, then KGM will honour that.

SsangYong Korando - No more warranty?? - Orb>>

What amuses me is the number of smaller dealers who I have talked to when looking at cars who refuse the offer of a KGM dealership because of the effort and investment to sell very few cars and the alleged difficulty of dealing with warranty matters.

Even with my experience it doesn't fill me with confidence at all.

Words will be had with KGM to morrow and the servicing dealer too.

ORB's car is a 71 plate, so that makes it 3 years old. It would have had a 7 year warranty when he bought it. Even if it only had a 5 year warranty, it should still have 2 years remaining.

Fishing for business. They are also a Ford dealer, so I got the same message as 3 year old Ford owner would get.

Been there (almost).

When we had the Kia Ceed we got prices for the first service when it was due from 3 local dealers. 2 were exactly the same the 3rd (also a Ford dealer) was about £50 less. I asked what oils they used etc and they commented that if we wanted a Kia service it would be £50 extra, they had priced for a Ford service.

Obviously we declined and went to the closest but I think it may have been interesting if warranty work had been required when the services had not been carried out to the correct spec using the correct oils.

I wonder how many customers actually buy the warranty they kindly offer? Perhaps a letter to your local paper.
