Merc E220D Auto 2018 - Restraint System fault - Matt Kerrigan

Hi
Message (in yellow) came on dash with airbag symbol saying Front Right Restraint System malfunction. Is this likely airbag or seat belt tensioner. Any obvious checks to carry out. I wondered if disconnecting battery and then check connectors under drivers seat. Appreciate any help as garage cant look at it for several weeks.

Restraint systems are very complicated. There are loads of sensors everywhere along with tensioners , side and roof bags and also belt reel tensioners. Can’t really do much without any diagnostics. Disconnecting the battery is unlikely to clear the warning system. You’ve also got bonnet pyro lifters on these .
