Hello. So I'm wanting to get a full exhaust kit on my car.
YES I know it's a diesel blah blah. But I want some sound on my car..
My question is would my car output some decent sound (better than stock lol) or not as I still have the DPF intact?
Yes I know I can have the dpf removed and it would make a huge difference but the thing is my car is already remapped and I heard you have to remap your car again when you get a dpf delete.
Side note: My car is already remapped and the EGR is deleted.
Below is the the kit I would install: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114130039273

Our area is plagued by cars which have had the exhausts modified to sound louder.

They are a b***** nuisance, the drivers are clearly very childish if they think a noisy car is better or makes anybody admire them.

If you want to make more noise take it to a racetrack and rev it till it blows the engine.

Hey, you didn’t answer the question.. ??

He didn't need to, it will sound crass like all the other cloned modified street rods.

Fitting a turbo dump valve should help the assault on everyone's ears.

I get what you mean. But seriously would I get some decent sound out of it.

It will sound exactly what it is, a system lacking a silencer, don't forget to notify your insurer of this modification and the egr delete or they could walk away from a claim, which will affect your premiums for many years ahead and could cost you everything you earn for the rest of your life if you caused life changing injury or worse to someone.

It will look quite nice i suppose having twin shiny tips, it's mild steel painted black so don't expect it to last forever but what can you expect for the fairly reasonable price.

Keep in mind that MIJ Walsall will make and fit a complete cat back stainless system for slightly over £300 (possibly gorn up from that figure) plus probably a surcharge for any fancy tips, and offer a lifetime warranty.

So it will sound the same as it currently does ? No improvements.. or because of the back box delete + no silencer it would sound quite decent. quite louder than a diesel lol..?

My exhaust downpipe hit something on a mountain trail and for a while my 40 year old Japanese sub-litre 3 cyl econobox with no paint on the roof sounded quite muscular and American.

But it was still a 40 year old Japanese sub-litre 3 cyl econobox with no paint on the roof, plus I called petrol "gas" once and had to punch myself in the face.

(Taiwanese expect American English, but confounding expectation is part of my counter-cultural irritant mission here)

So I fixed it.

There actually is such a thing as bad publicity.

It will sound like it currently does, just louder. Not really a good sound. It will annoy the hell out of you eventually because when you're driving at 35+mph (say on a main road or motorway) you'll get a loud droning sound inside the car. Also the system you've linked to on eBay is just some mild steel tube - its not good value for money. You will not get more power or torque - possibly you'll get less.

If you want to modify your exhaust then go to a company that makes custom stainless steel systems (stainless T304) and they will fabricate you a system that has the kind of sound you're looking for - but be prepared to pay £400-600 for it. Milltek are a good company but they are at the pricier end of the range.

Then it will fail the next MOT.

You haven't answered the question about informing your insurance company. Do you have insurance?

Might it even fail on excessive noise ? The test doesn't pass with a bad blow on a joint, so why not if the blow is from the rear of the car ? :-)

It won’t be excessive, it’s a diesel..

No need to inform if I haven’t even done anything yet. And for anything I have done I’ve informed..

I have concluded this thread as it seems to have become a dead end and it will prevent any further bad feeling and condemnation.
