Got the prediction for my Mazda CX-5, petrol, 14 reg. Apparently it's got two years left.
I find it hard to believe that a car with a good record for longevity, which has performed impeccably for the eight years I've had it and has no defects I'm aware of is suddenly going to fall apart.
I've had a bit of a play around with the predictor. I've put in details of a couple of Fiesta's that I've had (Mk2 957cc 1985 & MK7 1242cc 2012). It gives a predicted average of 14 years and average mileage of 83524 for BOTH cars.
Did the same thing for Ford Escorts of different generations and engines (both petrol and diesel) and they all came up with the same expected average age and mileage.
It doesn't differentiate between the engine type (petrol and diesel), MK1, MK2 etc, or the age of the car.
It just uses the average statistics of that car model. If the diesel CX-5's get sc***ped (s.c.r.a.p.p.e.d) sooner than the petrols, then it brings down the average for all of them.
