Mechanically as tough as old boots, and now Toyota have found form on styling too. What’s not to like, aside from the daft price tag?

In other words, it will either be bought by fleets or will sell in tiny quantities elsewhere.

Pretty car. Bristol next door has vast quantities of the thing used in taxi trade, but the Corolla is nowdays more common.

Looks a tremendous package except for the price!

Expensive

Considering they were to be shipped to Ireland it makes sense to offer in UK.

However I expect to see far more new model CHRs than the Prius due to current UK trends for SUV models and cost.

That's what the AutoCar thought as well. Nice looking car at the front, ok-ish from the rear (saloon-like looks and similar styling to the rear of the current Supra). Not so enamoured with the dash/console area - the Corolla does that better.

Not cheap either, even for the 'basic' 2L one, which presumably is the same power unit combo as in the upper spec Corolla. Not sure who would go for the 4WD uprated sporty (quite quick) PHEV though at the even higher price point - for that, many will more likely go for something Germanic.

Rather like the lackluster sales of the older sister car from Lexus, I can't see this doing much trade, even with mini cabs.

Front looks similar to 8th gen Civic apart from headlights and to me looks good

Seeing as we drive on the correct side of the road same as Japan, it makes no sense not to sell them here given how little alteration is needed for our C&U regs.

I got told they will develop a stretched version of the next corolla to provided more rear passenger leg room; i hope thats the case.
It was a Toyota salesman who told me, he also told me the toyota solid state batteries will not be available in the UK until the end of the decade.

the current Corolla TS has a longer wheelbase (so more rear legroom) than the hatch.

& then there is the Corolla Cross which we still seem to be denied.

Rear headroom is lacking in these so I do wonder how many will end up in the hands of cabbies.
