ODB1 and 2 - AndrewAUK99

I bought an ODB2 scanner for our Nissan Xtrail and it did exactly what we wanted. I was also told it would help with a friends Vauxhall Movano diesel van (2001) but when I took the panel off I'm pretty sure it is an ODB connector ( I dont know as Ive never seen one )

Is there a way of connecting my motorpower ODB2 scanner to an ODB1 connector ?

Diesel vehicles of this age are not obd2 compliant. It may have an obd socket , but a generic scanner won’t work. Obd 2 on diesels was introduced from around 2005 .

So are you saying you cannot connect an ODB2 scanner to a ODB1 port ?

You can connect to the obd port , but your cheap scanner is unlikely to give any reliable information, if any . Obd 1 and 2 are different address protocols.
