Pulling out of junction and hit a taxi :( - Lockstock

Hope im posting this in the right place, this morning on our way to work i approached a t junction to turn right and having a good distance before the next car (Taxi) approached me i began to merge, i pulled across the lane and into a box for the cars from the left to turn right as a driver coming from my left let us in i started to pull out, in the meantime the taxi had pulled across the front of the van and i then t boned him very very lightly! Gets stranger i obviosly stopped to get details and the taxi was sat stationary in the turning box facing the wrong way i pulled out the way and onto a side road and had to walk back down as the taxi driver was still sat in his car and would not get out or communicate at all, the police were called and turned up half quick and did the details exchange for us very very strange this and i havent had to deal with anything like this before. unsure who is to blame and unsure why he wouldnt give details untill the police were present. just to confirm i hit the taxi whilst the taxi was in a box for turning right but facing the wrong direction according to the arrow in the box!

imgur.com/a/iLnKKcm I was in the same position as the silver car maybe a touch more foreward and the taxi appeared infront of me

I have been the taxi driver in this situation, driver emerged from a side road on the nod of another driver who was stationary and had left a gap in the traffic,

Other driver T boned me as I was approaching lights in an adjacent lane. Other driver (in this case you) 100% at fault.

The taxi had right of way. However, what do you mean by it facing the wrong way according to the arrow?

The arrow points in the direction I was merging from so cars from my left use it to turn right he has driven around the front of me whilst his lane was blocked by me so he was effectively on the wrong side of the road

i was 1/3 into the arrow box so not even enough room for him to get around either way f*** knows why he did it

So, what I think you're saying is you came out of a T junction turning right. There was no gap in the traffic from the left, but there was a gap in the traffic from the right. You pulled across one lane whilst hoping someone from the left would let you in. When they did, a taxi approaching from the right had tried to get around you and you drove into it?

Fully in wrong lane driving into traffic just to cause crash

Understand that but in your case both of the lanes in your accident are going the same way in this case the taxi is in the other lane driving into oncoming traffic to cause a crash

From your position at the T-Junction, the yellow hashed box is there to prevent cars approaching from the right entering it, so that cars coming from the left can make their intended right-turn into the road that you are trying to exit from.

In my opinion you should have had the patience to wait until it was clear for you to exit.

I am reading from this that you approached the road from the junction, and therefore had a give way in front of you.

Anything beyond this is irrelevant, as traffic coming from any direction has right of way. I have come across this when going around parked cars on the wrong side of the road, cars coming from the junction have failed to look both ways, when they can clearly see only 1 side of the road is free and I have had to toot my horn to let them know I am there.

It is an absolute give way to all traffic.

I know it is frustrating having to wait, and on a busy road you could be waiting hours if you wait for both sides to be free, and we have all done what you did, but, because you stopped in the middle of the road and went out until all lanes where clear, it is 100% your fault.
