Jaguar Land Rover - Indicator sound too quiet/Sat nav voice too loud - KennyD

How ironic in this age of advanced electronic wizardry there are numerous complaints on JLR models whereby sounds are either too quiet or too loud & cannot be adjusted. I refer to the 5 Oct complaint of indicator sound too quiet. Do the brains at Jaguar not realise this is a SAFETY warning & should be heard. The default sound level should be loud enough to be heard-it's nonsense spouted by JLR to say a safety warning shouldn't intrude on refinement - Jaguar cars in the past have been noted for refinement even though the indicator sound is clearly audible. As a suggestion, radios for a long time have had automatic volume increase as speed increases so why not on indicator volume?

Another common complaint on JLR models(the reverse of quiet indicator noise) is the fact that the Sat nav volume cannot be adjusted below a pre adjusted volume & in this case can be too loud(Evoque for example has a minimum sat nav guidance level of volume 20). I understand JLR say(ironically)it's for safety warning reasons but that again doesn't make sense as the voice can be muted altogether. I have seen other cars whereby the driver is able to adjust the sat nav guidance throughout it's range from quiet to loud, i.e. to suit the driver in different driving conditions.

You have to wonder if the people deciding the specification of these features actually drive their cars.

And still people buy this so called Prestige brand.

Without the name our Kia Sportage does everything well and it has zero issues.as well as a dealer who we can talk to.

On most cars these days , the indicator click is virtually inaudible. The noise is produced from a sounder in the instrument pod , or a front door speaker. My friend has an old Ford Sierra, that has an old fashioned flasher unit that can be heard from outside the car .

Funny, but I hear lots of people saying that the indicators are too loud in a Polestar.

One variable not yet mentioned is the driver's hearing. Like many old people - and quite a few not so old - my upper frequencies have been gradually lost, so what seems easily audible to some may be less so for others. I can usually not make out what my wife is saying as it is drowned out by the much lower-frequency noises made by the car. Some may find that a positive feature I suppose ?

That's what free NHS hearing aids are for - there's no virtue in vanity.

I'm not looking for sympathy or suggestions, just offering a possible explanation for some of the earlier statements.
