Ford Kuga 2011 sony dab radio code MISSING - david ashford

Hi,

Sony Dab Radio on my 2011 Ford Kuga stopped working after my battery went flat. Replaced battery but radio is showing enter code. Car did not come with a code. the Radio serial number is V004739. Can you please help with this, didn't realise how much i miss the radio.

What is it with Fords and radio codes? 99.9% of people needing them seem to own Fords - why?

True, but that's more of a symptom than the cause - see below.

Why Fords? Probably since at one time Fords were very popular so it built from that fifteen years ago or more.

But they don't make up 99.9% of cars on the road, do they? Why do Fords seemingly need codes for their ICE that either other makes don't (whether relatively new or very second hand)? My old 90s Micra had an OEM for its DIN-sized radio-cassette player, which could be changed by the user (or at a dealership) rather like on any modern electronic device.

Are owners of Fords so forgetful that they don't bother to write the code down or change it / get it changed to one they can remember? Seems odd to me.

I hope you're not making the absurd suggestion there's some kind of sinister force at work here.

It seems to me that probably more Fords than other marques required a radio code at one point a few years ago. It doesn't take more than a handful of drivers of Fords from that era to amount to a considerable number who suddenly realise they don't know the code when the battery is disconnected.

I may be wrong, but when I ran a Ford with a radio that had a code, I'm pretty sure there was no option to change it.
