Ford Focus - Boot lid sometimes does not shut - djh1971

Need some advice here.

The boot catch on my Ford Focus Mk 3.5 seems to have been playing up for a while and sometimes the boot comes open.

It does however stay closed no problem when I have the central locking on and can still be opened and closed using the keyless fob without any trouble.

Feeling a bit worried as my car is going for an MOT tomorrow and not sure if it will fail on this.

Does anyone know?

It will be an MoT failure if it is likely to open inadvertently or not remain closed. It would be classed as a dangerous fault

Might just need a squirt of WD 40

It does open and close no problem with the central locking

I would check the tailgate rubber seal to make sure it’s not damaged and sitting squarely on the ridge of the body work . Perhaps someone has adjusted the slam panel pin too tightly and causing the latch to not fully “throw “
