Toyota yaris 2011 - suggestions on a bigger car - Beaglelady

I am looking to get a bigger car,I have a 9 mo th old baby, two dogs and my Toyota Yaris a 2011 plate is doing very well for its age, under miles at 38,000,no issues and in great condition its just quite small.Am looking to get something bigger, something reliable, safe, an automatic would be a dream,I do not do many miles so a petrol would be fine.I will be trading my Yaris in and getting a loan for the rest but was hoping for something under £12,000 if possible.By suggestions?

A Toyota Auris / Corolla would be the obvious choice if you get on with the Yaris.

A Honda Jazz is about Yaris-sized but more spacious and practical.

If you don't have a problem with SUVs, a Suzuki Vitara could also be an option. Personally, I think it's slightly easier to get kids in when the seats are a bit higher up.

A Hyundai ix20 or Kia Venga (basically the same thing) is a bit of a halfway between a hatchback and people carrier, so also quite practical.

I'm assuming your dogs aren't very big and aren't crated?

Second vote for a Vitara . A 1.6 petrol auto szt model around 2018 is within budget. Plenty of space for your needs .

Thank you all for the advice,I have been looking at Skoda Yetis, are these just as good as A Suzuki Vitara? although I said £12,000 I may be able to push to £14,000 if needed

A Yeti, especially an Automatic, will not be as reliable as any that I mentioned. They are much-loved by owners, though, so you may be willing to risk it.

Agreed, previous models with the MMT box were best avoided (even Toyota couldn't get those automated manual boxes right), but you seldom go wrong with a petrol or hybrid Toyota.

Hmm as an aside and i haven't looked , but Suzuki sold and might even still sell Suzuki badged Toyota Corolla hybrids, arguably they might be cheaper used than Toyota versions, are they yet in the OP's budget? but keep in mind Toyotas with full Toyota history benefit from a 10 year warranty now, that's worth paying a little more for, i'm unsure what the Suzuki situation is re warranty.

The Suzuki warranty on the Swace is 3 years possibly extendable. Unlikely to get into one for less than about £20k though, as far as I can see. Nice car!

Cheers Bazza, couldn't remember the model name for the life of me.

Swace would have to be much cheaper than Corolla to make the difference in warranty potential worthwhile, wouldn't surprise me to find extending the warranty on Swace would cost the same as a typical annual service at Toyota, i seem to recall just before prices went silly that you could get pre reg Swace estates very cheaply.
