Dacia Sandero - Battery in standby mode - Whichcar

Hello all,

I didn't use my Dacia Sandero for a few days over the sub zero temperatures and first thing I noticed when getting in car was it says "battery now in stand by mode" and it still keeps popping up.
Then when I stop at lights etc it says "priority battery charge"?
What's going on anyone know?

Is it something worry about?

Cars only 11 month old brand new.

Stop start function disabled due to low battery. Have you read the owner manual? I’m sure it’s in there.

I’d guess it’s prioritising getting amps into the battery rather than worrying about ancillaries like stop start.

Thanks, is that normal what it's doing and nothing to worry about?

What does your manual say? Take it for a long run and see what happens.

Thanks, took it for a very long drive in the hope it would go away but it didn't. Manual says nothing about that message. Although why did they give me a manual for a stephan login rather than a sandero?

Because the Stepway Logan (I think that's what you mean) will share much the same tech and oily bits.

The message is described on page 2.14 (at least in the 2020 version) of the handbook. Does it have two batteries, including a smaller one for the start-stop operation? If so, sometimes these get run down and are best charged out of the vehicle, using a smart charger capable of recovering the battery.

Sounds probably normal.

If you can be bothered and have the kit, I would stick the battery on an external charger.

BUT on a newfangled neurotic car I would probably want to disconnect the battery, and for that you might need a means of maintaining 12V to stop it having amnesia and an identity crisis, so maybe too much aggro.

Probably go away with use.

I was advised by an AA man that you have to run a car for about 30miles to put a decent charge into the battery. It is common knowledge on stop start systems that a low battery disables the system. if your car is only 11 months old and you are using it enough to maintain the battery then either the battery is duff or the alternator not giving it sufficient charge

At 11months old I'd have a trip to the Dacia dealer.
