VW Polo - Wheel Alignment - Drivethru

I've had the car serviced and need new front tyres. The depth on them is 2.65 for inner (both) and 2.56 outer passenger side, 2.77 driver side. From that would you say that the wheel alignment needs adjusting? Thanks.

These will be electronic readings. I use a trusty old pen style gauge and that wouldn’t pick up such a small difference. Its 0.21mm difference between the two extreme figures, a small amount when tyres start with 8.0mm of tread. Personally I wouldn’t consider alignment just for that as long as there aren’t other signs of misalignment such as steering to one side.

You're in new tyre territory. I'd suggest that's perfectly normal wear pattern for RHD cars, due to the camber of the road. I might consider adding the slightest bit of toe-out (perhaps a quarter turn of one track rod end).

Thanks both for your replies. I thought the same, it's a very small discrepancy.

Standard advice is best-tyres-on-the-back, so strictly speaking you dont need new front tyres, because you'll be moving the re-tyred front wheels to the back.
