Long story short, Its posted on the forum

Wife clipped a cow on the road , Farmers fault, No fault on insurance, , Rear door replaced , Front door repaired.

Car back in the body repair shop due to poor workmanship on the front door, So front door replaced with a new door

Since the second repair, The Manager told me that he had inspected the car and he was happy with it, Got the car home and i have found the following faults

1. Door slighting out of line and a slight gap compared to the drivers door

2. The door had been closed after the lacquer applied and opened again causing the lacquer to lift along the top of the main body work

3. the main door frame still left with primer on (Near wing), This can only be seen when the door is open

4. Looks like they got paint on the inside dash next to the door and damaged the dash panel trying to rub the paint off.

I reported the issues and the car has been inspected by the manager who had inspected the car , He told me that he only inspected the colour and nothing else, He said that there is nothing that he could do about the door and that it could easy be the wing slightly out!!!

Regards the points 2 to 4 , He has booked the car in for the work to be put right at the end of April, Since getting the car home , I have noted 2 scratches, One on the door mirror that was replaced and painted after the accident and also a pit in the paintwork on the rear door.

I am not happy as you can guess, The is the insurance recommended garage who also have the contract for the police repairs, So it should be good, But honestly, Even the manager was embarrassed at the points 2 to 4 , Now that i have noted the 2 scratches and the pit in the paintwork, I am thinking , Do i just phone the insurance company up and tell them that i want someone else to complete the work or give the garage one last chance, Also do i mention the scratches and the pit in the paintwork, They don't stand out , But i know they are there .

Regards the pit in the paintwork, Could they say that its expected not to be 100% perfect on a finish? like he is saying about the door not been flush with the wing.

Maybe i am expecting to much????

Why ? I don't suppose the police are bothered about the fine detail of how their cars look, nor should they spend much time (and public money) examining them for perfection. Neither am I impressed by a bodyshop being recommended by insurers, as I don't see that as a guarantee of workmanship, more of economy perhaps ?

A lot of insurers have their preferred body shops, The OP reported this to the forum in January and surprised this repair or dissatisfaction is still on going. May be the OP is expecting too much as he puts it but entirely up to him. There are so many stickers on the police cars that they probably cover any imperfections in their repairs. It is rare to get a perfect paint job that no one can tell particularly after a few months

I would call your insurer, tell them the repair is not up to standard, ask for their assessor to inspect it and have the job re-done. The other side have accepted responsibility so no cost to you or your insurer.

Thanks for your replies, Yes its been on going since October and one of the issues is getting the car booked in and they have a shortage of courtesy cars and also getting parts

What i might do, I will inform the insurance company that the work has been sub standard and i will tell them that if the car is not fixed to a high standard, then i will expect them to come and check the car and to have the work done elsewhere.

I have yet to claim my excess back from the farmers insurance, I think that's still on going, My isurance company had written to the farmers insurance and they were not replying , Its the NFU insurance that we are claiming off

Just to update

Spoke with the insurance yesterday, i made it clear that i was unhappy with the repair on the car and we have agreed to give the garage one last chance to get it right and she took all the details and they are going to contact the garage and if i am not happy, then the insurance company will send someone out to inspect the work.

They are also asking the garage to look at the door and that its got no big gaps.

On another note, the farmers insurance are not responding to my insurance company and are now taking the insurance company to court.

This however makes my claim for claiming the excess back very hard now , If they won't reply to the insurance company, What change do i have, But i will try
