Fiesta Mk5 (2002 - 2008) - this one is an 2003 - Front suspension top mount orientation - Teacat

Hi all

I’ve just built two new front suspension legs and I’m wondering if I should be following the markings on the top of the top mounts. I know the mount markings (arrow, tab and green dot) are relevant with some models, but don’t’ know about this one. Does anyone know what the arrow, dot or tab should be pointing to (i.e. front or back of the body or at the engine or whatever)?

There’s nothing in the Haynes manual, so clocking position may not be relevant, but I need to know for sure. Picture below.

Cheers

PS - Hm, not sure the photo came out, can't see how to attach it. On top of the mount there is an arrow, a painted green dot and a protruding tab about 7mm long and 10m wide on the edge of the mount.

FYI - It's this one:

Hello mate, are there any marking on the body of the car? On my fiesta there were marks from the previous top mounts so I just followed these. To be honest I can't see it making any difference as the mounts are symmetrical other than those little tabs.

Thanks Joe, I didn't install the last ones so don't know if the fitter got it right (if there was a right). Got to say that I can't see much about it online so I guess you're right as in symmetrical, so position not important. All I've gathered from interweb searches is that regardless of make, a lot of them say the arrows should point to either the front or the back of the vehicle. So, as both mounts are the same, I'll probably point one's arrow to the back and the other's to the front (hedging my bets : - )

Thanks a lot for chipping in.

Yeah, I don't think it makes any difference mate. If you need anymore help with the fiesta then I'm happy to help. I have a 2007 fiesta zetec s :)

You're a gent, cheers. I've had this one for about 13 years and done a few things but not suspension stuff. All the best.
