Hi guys, does anybody know where to find the fuel temp sensor on 520d 2011 efficientdynamics model, I’ve Googled it but no luck as yet,
Thank you
Are you sure it’s got one ? Do you mean exhaust temperature sensor ?
Hi, no I definitely mean fuel temp sensor, there’s even the part listed for it , just trying to locate it is the hard part,
It’s on my autel diagnostics as fuel temp sensor code 259F00 short to ground,
I haven’t physically looked for it yet on the car, just thought someone may have had changed one on here,
Would be surprised if it didn’t have one as most modern diesels do have them.
Also there’s the part listed for it as well.

If there is one fitted , I would expect it to be on the low pressure fuel line , possibly on the return side to the tank . Short to ground means it’s lost the power supply to it or it’s not connnected . If you can post up the last 7 digits of the vin , I can look it up on the BMW ista system .
Fab thank you, I’ve come across two different sensors ones a screw in and the other is incorporated into a short piece of fuel line.
Last 7 are - C960944

There’s a couple of codes also 259c00
259800 26cf00
These codes are fuel pressure related . What’s actually wrong with the car ?
It’s driving fine, these codes have come up,
Can you leave me your email address and I’ll send you a photo of the info.
If elekie&a/c doctor is willing to assist then it's best you email the photo to us moderators and we will forward it on to him.
How do I do that please have you an email address I can use ?

Hi have you received the email I’ve sent you ?
Yes and I've replied as well.
I’ve had a look at the diagnostic log that the mods kindly sent me . Unfortunately fault codes are just a rough guide , it’s not possible to fix cars with only these . More in depth investigations are needed to establish actual values of components and sensors . A good multimeter and technical service info required here.
Yes I agree with you, I’m going to start with the fuel temp sensor once I find out where it is, I’ll track it down I’m sure when I have a look and get stuck into it,
Thank you anyway

Having had a good sniff around some parts diagrams and forums I think there is a fair chance the fuel temperature sensor is in the immersed electric lift pump assembly in the fuel tank. That's maybe why nobody knows where it is.
Not so sure about that . Just looked up on a different diagram , looks like the fuel pressure and temp sensor are one unit in the engine bay .
The fuel temp sensor on this model is in the fuel line in engine compartment. Its small black block with a four pin connector on it. IIRC it comes complete with the short piece of fuel line its fitted in.
Hi yes, I found it after, it is just by the high pressure pump.
Hopefully may make it easier for someone else to find the fuel temp sensor now with this post :)
Hi there.
Yes I found it yesterday and it’s just down from the high pressure fuel pump, the sensor has gone down that’s the problem,
It is the one you sent me the photo of as well,
Thank you kindly for your help very much appreciated.
