hi my 27000 miles 15 plate car with a dual clutch transmission is showing signs of failing, ie clunky change between first and second gear along with a judder. ford uk wont accept any responsibility for poor design/ reliability despite the court case in the state which ford lost. has anyone else had similar problems

The power shift auto is a real liability because of its lack of reliability. Search the internet and you'll see lots of owners have had problems and big Bill's to repair.

I understand that the motor trade is extremely reluctant to take these cars because of potential liability when they sell one.

There are places that have become so specialist in the repair of them, probably because of the practice they get!

You could try but here (unlike celebs suing for defamation, as recently demonstrated), getting a far shake for us plebs up against the $Bn coprorations is rarer than hen's teeth. At most (like in parts of the EU) they might've got fined.

You might stand some chance (our forum's resident legal experts should be able to give your chances of getting any redress) if you brought up the Sale of Goods Act/former EU 'standards of manufacture' laws where many products are 'sort-of' guaranteed (unofficially) to be good for at least 6 years from the date of manufacture.

If your car is older than 6 years, then you've likely got zero chance of redress unless the car is still under a dealership warranty.

Just looked into this and you're right, that's terrible. Companies like Ford don't care as long as they continue to make money

Has the oil been changed twice now as its due every 3 years ?

Piece of junk. You'll get no help from Ford. Run it down to WBAC asap.

Will WBAC take care with a noticeable judder? My focus judders and I've already paid out for a clutch replacement several years ago.

Have people had problems selling Focus with these powershift issues?
