Toyota Yaris - Google and Licence Varification - greysynchro

This is or isnt a driving legal matter and I am not sure whether other members have this situation. Google sent me an email to say that to confirm my address I should send a copy of my passport or a copy of driving licence. They state that as soon as verification has been confirmed they will delete licence details from their records.

My query is:- does this means that DVLA/DVSA have given Google permission to interrogate my details????

Sounds like some sort of a scam to me.

Got to be a scam . Why would google want your licence details?

Indeed. I would be very wary. Perhaps the OP could ask himself

(a) Who is the e-mail from? (Is it from Google, or is it someone using Gmail or Google Mail? And is it really from whoever it purports to be?)

(b) Why does whoever-it-is need to verify your address? (Google does not, as far as I'm aware, have records of your driving licence. Google's vast data records include only material that's openly available on the internet.)

(c) Is someone trying to get hold of the OP's address and/or other details for nefarious purposes?

I can't honestly think of good wholesome answers to those questions and I think I'd be inclined to dismiss the whole thing. Probably no-one already has your licence details.
