Fiat Punto - Going into a 24 hour bus lane - Luke Richardson

I got caught in a bus lane at half 10 on a night in a 24 hour bus lane. After viewing the footage online of me being caught in the act, I basically just move round a fully stationary car, theres literally no other way to progress in that situation other than moving around it. I'm curious if I actually have a leg to stand on when I appeal or I should just pay it?

I'd appeal.

Just a detail. We're you going to be held up ? Why was the car stationary, could you see a reason ?

Unless the stationary vehicle was unable to move you wait until it does.

If it couldn't move due to breakdown, accident etc then you should appeal.

If I appeal and say the car was broken down in front of me do you reckon they'd have the resources to check if it actually was?

To be totatlly honest I dont think the car was broken down but I didn't pay a great deal of thought to it, I just followed the car in front around it.

Where was this? Can you provide a google streetview or similar link to the site.

If you went in the bus lane to dodge round a vehicle waiting to turn right then I think you're banged to rights.

If it was broken down or had been in an accident then you might have some material to build an appeal from.

No the car was pulled over, the streets is Carr Lane Hull and the event occured next to the bus stop. I could also upload the video they've provided to youtube if that helps?

If the car was stationary (Not for a traffic hold up, or allowing a pax to disembark) then it was causing an obstruction and you are legally entitled to go round that obstruction.

Including entering a bus lane? Even if the obstruction is a vehicle waiting to turn right?

I don't think that would wash at the Traffic Penalty Tribunal if the OP took it that far.

Unless it was a genuine breakdown, and he'd paused long enough to ascertain that fact, then I think the OP is liable. He says he simply followed the car in front which committed the same infringement as he did.

If that is the case then his best option is probably to pay up ASAP while he can still get the discount for putting his hand up early.
