In the now closed thread on Enforcement of minor infractions somebody complained of being unjustly pinged for exceeding the 50 limit on the QE2 bridge. The gist of the gripe was that the camera angles were incapable of detection the infraction.
Travelling that route on Friday I had the opportunity to check.
Shortly after the M25 ends at J31 the speed limit drops to 50 together with a warning of enforcement by average speed cameras. I'd guess these use a distance/time calculation between successive gantries. Only a registration number is needed to facilitate the calculation.
Thus you can be caught well over 50 on the approach only to be slowed to much less over the summit of the bridge.
