I see in Ask HJ there is a detailed reply on the advisability of changing a wheel in the event of a puncture on heavy EVs, specifically the Niro. Recovery is the preferred solution with year two onwards being paid for by the customer.
Presumably it applies to all heavy EVs? Yet another reason I will stay with old tech as long as possible.

Very unusual for an EV to have a spare, so recovery is highly likely anyway in the event of a severe puncture.

Tick another strike against EV. It is going to be very hard to persuade me.

My next company car will be petrol / plug in, Volvo V90, didn't even consider this! Hopefully it will have a user changeable wheel but will need to check on that.

Can't see any logical reason why an EV should need a spare less than any other car ?

This is obviously tempting fate, but neither me, my wife nor my kids has ever been stranded by a puncture in 60+ combined years of motoring.

We've had several slow leaks / gradual losses of tyre pressure that have led to the discovery of a nail or similar stuck in the tread, but I've always been able to get the car to the local tyre factor for a repair. Never had to change a wheel at the roadside.

If you can’t jack it up like a normal car, how do you get a new tyre fitted ?

It’s not just new tyres. I switch my tyres around every year or so to even out wear. It’s a free workout and also ensures they are not over tightened if I do have a puncture. I don’t fancy paying a garage to do it.

I agree fast leaking punctures are infrequent but you just need one at an inconvenient time to be up the proverbial creek.

So what do the professionals do ? Use a full hoist ?

Reading up on the Tesla 3, there does appear to be Jacking points in much the same position has on a regular car. It does warn you about lifting anywhere near the battery No jack is supplied. I would imagine you would use an hydraulic jack because of the weight. As with an ICE car it mentions rotating the wheels for optimum tyre wear. So the AA could get you going at the roadside if you had a flat and they had the right tyre

Superb iV does not have a factory spare so I retained to one I had bought for the first Superb (both cars have the same size wheels and tyres) and put it in the boot. Fortunately whilst the iV's boot is smaller than a regular Superb's boot (hanks to the batteries and electronics) it is still big compared to most cars and there is about 80 litres of space under the floor intended for storing charging cables, total capacity about 570 litres.
