BMW 530 - Water leak from grommet - sammy1

My mate has a water leak from a 2 inch grommet entering his car. The grommet is a blank and too difficult for him to get at as it is behind the engine. Water is coming down a windscreen drain accumulating behind the grommet and leaking into the footwell He can get at the grommet from the inside and wants to seal it here PLASTIC to METAL body of the car

What would be the best sealant to use? The grommet is out of view and he does not mind "burying" the thing with sealant if it does the job

I would use windscreen sealant. There are some that are supposed to creep (capillary action?) but if access is good and it can’t be seen I guess pretty much any flexible sealant could be smeared around it.

ive used windscreen sealant and it worked. also suggesst waterproof tape
