Seat Ibiza - cannot open boot - omega3

I have a Seat Ibiza mk3, 2003

intermittently the boot does not open after operating key fob to open everything up

I have been using the manual switch in the drivers door to lock doors on occasion (this means the car alarm not operative), this was to stop the alarm going off intermittently, now that seems ok, and save battery. Battery is fine, have been using car every day during this cold snap

have been able to get into boot until today, again

so happened around 10 days ago, then seemed to correct itself, now happened today, I had to drop rear seat down to get me shopping out of boot

any ideas?

thanks

Tailgate switch , latch, wiring, body control module. Any or all of the above . It’s not possible to guess without any testing of the system .

The boot lock motor recently failed on my daughter's Skoda Fabia. I got a new one from TPS for £29. It was a simple 10 minute job to replace. U doubt the Seat Ibiza will be much different.

thanks for replies,

I also read that the rear wiper can affect the mechanism, not sure how

thanks for TPS recommendation

hopefully it will open tomorrow, and I can get panel off to take a look at mechanism

Rear wiper won’t affect operation of the tailgate latch , but any leaking window wash fluid could find it’s way into the wiring connector on the latch/switch . Common problem on the Golf of the same era .
