Vauxhall Zafira - Zafira b recall work and missing heater fuse - Lucas Jones

Had my recall work done for the heater motor work at Vauxhall bristol street motors local garage over a year ago.
Since then my heating has never got hot only ever so slightly luke warm.

The fans work fine but never any heat coming out, seems strange after it has had recall. After some recent investigation I have checked the fuse box and realised fuse 4 is now missing ( heating and air con).
Could it be that bristol street motors have not done the recall work because I remember they kept saying on the day they had loads of other work to be done on other cars and it took 6 hours for them to do it when it should only take one.
Could they simply remove the fuse so there would be no chance of a fire , therefore leaving me with no Internal heat??

Also if they have done the work correctly why us the fuse missing?

Firstly a Zafira B could be anywhere up to 20 years old. Seems very strange that recall work is being done on a vehicle of this age.

Second, a fuse has nothing to do with where the heat comes from. The heat inside the car is redirected heat from the engine cooling system which would otherwise be dissipated into the outside air. If your car's heater is only luke warm then it suggests a problem with the cooling system or the engine is running too cool. This needs to be investigated and will become serious if ignored.

The recall on these refers to the heater blower motor and speed resistor, as you say the blower is working on all speeds , then this is not related to the issue with no heat . Can you hear the temp mode flaps operating when the hot cold control is operated ? This could be a mechanical problem. Engine thermostat or coolant flow issue .

It's a zafira 2013 plate design model. I'm not sure if it is a thermostat issue because unfortunately newer vauxhalls dont have a temperature gauge.

Coolant us regularly changed and never needed to top up.

What function does the interior fan heating fuse have then if it is not a fuse problem and should I put a fuse in to see if it makes any difference?

Its a safety recall on the heating system as certain specifications of Zafira have a known issue with turning themselves in to a BBQ - was well covered in the national press.

I had the recall done 2 years ago now. My zafira is 2013 plate , 47000 miles

Just seems strange the fuse is missing. What function does this

Fuse have in relation to the heater ?

The Zafira b has many unused spaces in the fuse box . What number fuse is missing ? Was the heater working 2 years ago ?

Fuse 4 is missing (internal heating) yes the heater was ok but seems to only blow slightly warm air now not hot like I would expect

The heater matrix inside the car is a heat exchanger, a smaller version of the radiator. As the engine warms up heat is transferred into the coolant which itself then gets hot. This heated coolant flows through the heater matrix where the heat is drawn off by the fan and blown through the ducts into the car. Even if the fan is not working the heater matrix should still be hot when the engine is hot. If the engine is hot and the heater matrix cool then you have a circulation problem.

Fuse 4 internal heating. And yes was working fine before. Iv not do e anything for 2 years as it's not bothered me untill now it's really cold

Fuse #4 is for automatic climate control. Is this what you have fitted on this car ?

Iv checked the owner's manual fuse 4 is interior fan heating and air con. Fuse 3 is electronic climate control. Mine is automatic yes tip spec model

No harm in putting a fuse in place if you think one is missing . Just make sure it’s the correct amp rating .

Sorry for any confusion. Mine does have an auto button and in some vauxhall pages it says these models are not affected by recall but I did get a recall letter because I think Vauxhall changed their minds and recalled every zafira b

The OP says the coolant is regularly changed. When was it last changed and did the lack of heating occur after that? I'm thinking possible air lock.

Last changed approximately one year ago. I was having the problem well before this though.

Also when it had a major service at halfords they even changed it again as I said the heating is not working since they changed the coolant and the halfords mechanic assured me he massaged the pipes to release any airlock.

I will try the fuse see if it makes any difference but from a couple of replies on here it seems the fuse does not make any difference?
