Seat Ibiza - light switch removal - omega3

I have a mk3 Seat Ibiza

I need to replace my light switch (headlamps etc)

please see image,

I can get the assembly out of the dashboard, but this still leaves the main switch in situ

how do you actually remove the main switch, the part with the rotary knob ?

On most Vag models , to remove the switch, push in the knob and turn it one click . This should release the spring loaded claws .

Might be the other way round , click one position then push .

all done now, push in turn, and with long nose pliers, got the pesky switch out

getting replacement one back in took some equal determination and bit of needle filing,

all working now
