The seat position memory stopped working for no particular reason that I could see, it would not move the seat or accept or store a new position, so had to revert to using the manual buttons instead to move the seat. No lights visible on the memory switch panel in the door.
Check fuse - ok. Disconnect battery for 30 minutes - reconnect - no different.
A couple of days later I noticed that to use the remote key I had to be very close to the car so replaced the battery in the key, which immediately re-enabled the seat memory switch panel.
Why? Presumably the seat position memory system is linked to the remote key signal when unlocking the car, IE use key 1 and the seat goes to preset position 1 and the same for key 2 etc. The battery in remote key no 2 had died as it's kept as the spare key so replaced that as well. I just use position 1 for the driving position and press button 2 on the panel to move the seat right back to get in and out easier.
There is no mention of this in the handbook.
Saved a trip to the dealer for the cost of a couple of key batteries.
Thanks focussed interesting that, I had to reprogram my Civic key as the battery was flat and new battery didn`t work, so tried to program key myself and doing so wiped the second key so that didn`t work
luckily I had standard 3rd key and used a locksmith to get me a 2 new keys and program, Honda was going to charge £220 just for one key but someone else was half that for doing 2 remote keys, just proves doing it yourself doesn`t always work
