What happened to the ‘nothing over 12 months old’ mantra?

Plenty of 17 plates, etc that are out of manufacturer warranty.

Motorpoint sell basically 3 types of car

1) Ex day rent cars 6-12 months old with 12K miles - problem is day rentals died in March

Even today car rental firms are in 1st or 2nd gear - outlets closed and those that are open have a handful of cars on the forecourt.

2) Ex -lease cars - 2+ years old with up to about <30K on the clock

3) Manufacturer over stocks - they have hundreds of zero / under 100 mile Astras of late

Normally they have 6-7000 cars

Today under 4000 of which 30% are Vauxhalls - very few low mileage cars and very few "major brand cars" Reason 1) above.

Good info, thank you.

Explains why my recent hire car had to go back at 8000 miles, europacar’s sales guy explained they sell them at their optimum price vs mileage/age and recently cars have been moved on at a younger age/mileage.

Replaced with a rather decent Astra Auto , very nice gear box, presume it’s a torque converter auto based on its characteristics (no nasty lurch which is common in some CVT boxes).
