For those seniors among us, do NOT forget to SORN your vehicle when the four month isolation starts, no sense in paying for something we are not going to be able to use.

Good advice if you really aren't going to go out.

If the politicians have any sense (and they probably haven't) they will ask people over a certain age politely not to go out unless essential, e.g. for food shopping. That way they'll get respect. If they try to make it compulsory they'll simply be defied. I think the Scottish health minister has already given that reasonable advice.

In my village the majority of us are over 70. Supermarkets' delivery services are already fully booked and we can't realistically expect the younger minority to do all our shopping for us.

Even if you decide not to have any social contact, you could still take your car out for a drive just to get out of the house!

Do you mean in a Sgt Wilson (from Dads Army) way?

Why are we not going to be able to use it? May we not go for a drive without contacting other people?

Our tax is only £10-20 a month, and we can only save complete months anyhow.

I'd use Grecian 2000 but there's not enough hair left. Wooly hat and shaving grey beard off maybe.

Well, they ain't "banging" me up for 4 months...unless my physical health dictates otherwise.

I'm over 70 so in the alleged high risk category.

I live in a small very rural village and have no immediate neighbours...so I shall continue my outside "pottering"...AND go out for a drive when/if I want.

I don't have to get out of the car and meet peeps now do I..!!!

One point to remember before deciding what to do: as those who catch the virus become infectious before they show symptoms, and certainly before they reach the medical 'system', the official count of cases is well below the real number - quite likely 10 times below. So it's always best to keep a safe distance. Now everything is in the public domain most people won't be too offended :-(

Not just the over 70's who need to isolate ... anyone with a medical condition needs to protect their health too ... that includes those with cancer. Since I live with lymphoma (blood cancer) so I am looking a busy time gardening and working from home. Aiming for shopping only at unsociable hours. If I do need to visit the office it's by car only, fortunately I have my own office so not sharing works well for me at this time. Lots of phone calls, looking after mental welfare is as important as physical welfare.

As for SORN, for just 3 months' it's hardly worth it, but of if done there may be a saving for advising insurer too that car will be parked up for a period.

Working from home sucks. In the office I'm in a small team and we take turns to do tea runs. I'm constantly supplied with my mug of builders tea. Home my wife offers two a day. From eight mugs a day to two. My caffeine levels may never recover.

Look on the bright side. Your bladder will get a long-overdue rest.

Latest UK figures for infections Saturday night confirm a mathematical model - increasing by a factor of six every week.

(and may be accelerating)

If it continues as we can expect 25,000 new cases next week and 150,000 the next ,

Daeths will rise in proportion. to the thousands a day.

The NHS will be unable to cope.

see: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/

London has 20% of the UK population and half its infections.
