This company in Wales does electric conversions on classics, it's interesting looking at the costs of motors etc (I'm not advertising or affiliated with them in any way, etc etc)

For example, they list a 70bhp / 120ft-lb aircooled electric motor which has built-in regenerative function, idle and reverse capability. It takes a max of 650A, which is a LOT of juice. £5,000 inc VAT!

Doesn't seem too bad.

That's just for the motor, though - no batteries, no inverter, no charging socket or circuitry.

Slight change of topic, but i remember seeing one of those Henry Cole programmes involving automobilia where he converted a vintage petrol pump to an EV charging point. Which i thought was genius, looked pretty cool too!

Wheeler Dealers converted an American car and it cost a fortune even with Edd's labour coming for free.

It was a Maserati biturbo that the previous owner had already started but they finished it. But yes things like batteries and modern motors cos alot of money. The original owner had used a forklift motor.
