subaru forester boxer 2l D XC - sounding a bit agricultural - strickjumpers

Hello,

looking at an advert for subaru boxer and declared to sound a bit agricultural, also claim this is normal with the boxter but louder on this one.

Anyone know what causes this and is it easily repaired or to be avoided?

thanks, mike,

Walk away. I wouldn’t touch a cheap diesel never mind one that already has an obvious fault. Subaru’s are painfully expensive for parts, many of which are dealer only and I’ll wager the seller knows exactly what is wrong with it and how much it’ll cost to fix thus the reason for selling and to intercept any complaint from a buyer they’re telling you it has a fault but they won’t tell you what it is. This would be a terrible used buy.

What is your budget? If as I suspect it’s quite low I’d stick with petrol models such as a Toyota Avensis or Honda Accord. Both make excellent estates and will run and run if looked after.

Loads of Subaru Diesels for sale with wrecked engines, can't give them away, crank issues, nil points Subaru.

I don't think this op is looking for cars from himself to own or run, almost all posts are about specific faults on a variety of vehicles.
